Los s\u00edntomas son dolor de pecho, n\u00e1useas, v\u00f3mito, sudoraci\u00f3n, desvanecimiento e inclusive p\u00e9rdida de conocimiento. El tratamiento debe ser inmediato, para evitar que el paciente sufra de afectaciones graves o que muera.<\/p>\n<p>El riesgo de sufrir un infarto puede disminuir si es que el paciente act\u00faa sobre los factores de riesgo, de acuerdo con el m\u00e9dico cardi\u00f3logo Vladimir Ullauri.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00bfCu\u00e1les son los factores de riesgo?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cLa alteraci\u00f3n estructural predominante en estas enfermedades cardiovasculares (infarto card\u00edaco, infarto cerebral y enfermedad arterial perif\u00e9rica) es la aterosclerosis, que es la degeneraci\u00f3n y obstrucci\u00f3n progresiva de las arterias del cuerpo\u201d, explica el especialista.<\/p>\n<p>Los factores de riesgo de la aterosclerosis son la hipertensi\u00f3n arterial, el tabaquismo, las alteraciones del colesterol, la diabetes, la obesidad, el sedentarismo y el estr\u00e9s. Adem\u00e1s, las personas de edad avanzada y los hombres tienen mayor riesgo de sufrir enfermedades cardiovasculares que las mujeres.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00bfC\u00f3mo prevenir un infarto?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Los factores de riesgo no modificables son la edad y el g\u00e9nero. Pero, un paciente puede prevenir un infarto si es que controla su presi\u00f3n arterial, se trata la diabetes, no fuma, hace ejercicio, sigue una dieta balanceada y mantiene un peso saludable.<\/p>\n<p>La poblaci\u00f3n en general y principalmente los mayores de 40 a\u00f1os deben realizarse un chequeo cardiol\u00f3gico anual para evaluar los factores de riesgo del infarto.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSe ha visto que personas que no han acudido oportunamente a un evaluaci\u00f3n, y se les diagnostica tard\u00edamente la presencia de un factor de riesgo, pueden tener un riesgo muy alto de tener un infarto\u201d, dice el cardi\u00f3logo. De hecho, muchos acuden al chequeo m\u00e9dico cuando ya est\u00e1n cursando un infarto.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 tomar medidas?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Las enfermedades cardiovasculares son las principales causas de muerte en el Ecuador. A nivel p\u00fablico, dice Ullauri, se debe fomentar el estilo de vida saludable.
